We had a successful 2nd Annual Stop Hunger Now Event & Fall Festival. We made some great new connections and will continue to build our network of support by getting in front of every business and organization of NE Lancaster to share our mission and raise funds to help support our future events as well as our School Support Project.

Exciting News!!!

Lancaster County Community Foundation awards an $80,000 Long-Term Creative Solutions Grant to Lancaster County Council of Churches to implement their Food Hub.

In partnership with the Hunger Coalition and Members:

Central PA Food Bank, Lancaster General Health, CAP, United Way, Lighten UP Lancaster, F&M's Local economy Center, Gap Family Center and local churches.
With a mission to build a Hunger-free Lancaster County with a nutritious, accessible, and sustainable food system.

Purpose of the new FOOD HUB

  • Transforming a cans-in, cans-out system into a distributive network to supply people with healthy, fresh food.
  • Creating capacity to channel vast supplies of nutritious food through the community network.
  • Increasing awareness and knowledge of the importance of fresh, healthy food and ensuring its accessibility.
  • Creating access to farmers markets and CSAs for SNAP participants.
  • Multiplying SNAP dollars for the purchase of healthy food.

The Results

  • Lives saved and changed through increased resources promoting productivity, wellness and self reliance.
  • Increased knowledge of nutrition accompanied by choices of healthy, accessible, affordable food.
  • Effective deployment of existing resources for greater community impact.
  • Increased efficiency in the emergency food system thereby freeing resources to create pathways for independence.
  • Increased coordination of the extensive but largely disconnected network of providers.
